Mission - Remaining Steadfast
Location - Forward Operating Base, Rothana

The howl of the wind through the open door was deafening, and the chill brought a shiver to the lone occupant of the small out-building. "Ach!" she squealed. "For fuck's sake, computer, close the door!"

An error tone, followed by a grunt of annoyance. "Fine, I'll do it myself," she muttered. "Note to self, summon an engineer to fix this thing." She slowly took her hands out of the glove-boxed biosafety cabinet. She turned on her small, spinning lab stool and her eyes went wide. It hadn't been another glitch. Or a prank from some idiot who thought messing with the scientists was harmless fun.

She had a visitor. A specific one.

"I didn't think I'd see you so soon."

The visitor pulled the insulated hood from her head, revealing improbably crisp and well maintained flame-red hair, intense amber eyes, and a stony expression revealing neither whether she was warm under the coat or cold from the outside; happy to be there or angry to be bothered.

It was an expression the scientist had become familiar with over the years.

She turned back to her work. "Step inside so the door closes." She slid her hands back into the biosafety cabinet's built-in gloves and smiled to herself when she heard the door slide shut, cutting off both the howl and the freeze from outside. "So, what brings you to the ass end of the First Order, to a world where you need high clearance to even see it on a map?"

She could hear behind her the sound of a coat being unclasped and gloves being taken off. They could be heard being unceremoniously dropped to the floor.

"Ever the strong and silent type," she mused. "I have three viral strains I still need to sequence, and it's hard to do when you're--oh shit."

The transparent aluminum of a Class III Biological Safety Cabinet did not reflect much light, but it did show just enough of what was behind her to provoke a reaction. Less gently this time she pulled her arms out, got to her feet, and stood at attention.

After all, a woman in the full duty uniform of an Officer of the Terran First Order merited that much respect.

"What is regulation four-alpha of the First Order Rules of Discipline?" the visitor asked.

The scientist took in a breath. "Four-alpha obliges any junior officer, enlisted person, or trooper to stand at attention before one of their superiors, until and unless deliberately instructed to stand at ease."

"Correct," the visitor said. The right corner of her lips curled up the tiniest bit. "And what is that regulation's informal annex?"

"The informal annex is to assume a hooded figure is a superior until you know otherwise." It had been a bit of an in-joke among many in the fleet. There were just enough robed and hooded figures in senior command positions, none of whom had any compunctions about killing you for any slight, real or perceived, that it was best to defer. Almost everyone knew someone who had been killed for not giving a hooded figure the respect they thought they deserved.

"Good to know you remember the essentials." There was a tense pause before the visiting officer's slight smile grew wider. "At ease, Lieutenant. And come here, Mable." She held her arms up, and after letting out a long breath science officer Mable Laurent approached her old friend and gave her a hug.

"It's been too long, J," Mable said as she sank into the arms of her taller, more muscular friend. After pulling away, she got a closer look at her rank insignia. "You made Commander?"

Juliet Sierra released her old friend. "Just last month," she replied. "And a new assignment. First Officer of the new Steadfast."

"They're finally launching the Xyston then? About time." Mable cocked her head toward the door. "The other lab buildings you passed, quite a few of them were working on the axial superphaser. Keeping Rothana busy."

"Not you though?"

Mable shrugged. "You can deploy bio agents from any ship." She gestured to her workstation. "These strains like to eat Cardassians, but they still like humans a little too often for my superiors' liking."

"Well, a few human casualties may need to be acceptable sometimes," Juliet said. "And you can keep working on them on the move."

"What do you mean?"

Juliet grinned. "We'll soon be showing the Alliance and the restored Empire what it truly means to fight Terrans. And to do that we need the best at the tip of the spear. We need you. I've already put in the requisition. You won't be senior, but you'll have your work. And I'll have someone I can trust in the science department." She took a step back, but kept her hands on Mable's shoulders. "I have a runabout leaving for Kuat tomorrow at 0800. Pack your things and be on it. Your work, too, as long as it can be moved safely."

"I can do that in the next hour," Mable assured her.

"Good." Juliet's hands slid down Mable's arms and took her hands. "Then when you're done you can come to the visitor barracks and show me what people on Rothana do to keep warm?"

Mable swallowed hard and then nodded excitedly. "I'll be there."

Juliet raised an eyebrow. "You'll be there..."

The scientist smirked and stood at attention. "I'll be there, Commander."

"That's more like it," Juliet quipped. "See you soon then. As you were." The senior officer gathered her overcoat and put it back on just as she stepped back out into the howling winds, leaving Mable Laurent to begin packing for an exciting journey, not just for herself, but for the entirety of humanity. ]]>

Mission - Remaining Steadfast
Location - Ready Room

It had been a day since Reina had come aboard the Steadfast. Things were quickly taking shape, and now all that was left was to get a crew together. Of course, that was easier said than done, as the First Order had many personnel "tied up" at the moment, which meant acquiring crew had been especially difficult.

However, nearly impossible didn't mean actually impossible. She just had to look where others weren't.

Reina sighed as she was about to wrap up a long day of paperwork when suddenly the ready room chime rang. She hadn't been expecting anyone, so the chime was a genuine surprise, yet hopefully a welcome one.

"Come!" She called out.

The doors swooshed open and in stepped a familiar sight for Reina: A fellow recruit for the infiltration program, the two of them had worked together on multiple assignments, and had become good friends... Some would say even more so...

"Takeshi Nakazato." Reina greeted the new arrival. "I was wondering when you were going to turn up."

"What can I say?" Takeshi shrugged, stepping closer to Reina than protocol usually demanded. "We work well together, so when I heard you were getting command of your own ship..."

"I knew you couldn't stay away from these..." Reina grabbed her breasts and gave them a tantalizing jiggle. "And last I recall, you had the magic touch yourself..."

"I've never seen another pair of titties make such perfect circles." Takeshi admitted. "It really inspires a man to give his all..."

"Maybe after we're done here, you'd be inclined to show a girl a good time?" Reina proposed. "Where's the Order got you posted to this time so I can come and visit..."

"Actually, right here on the bridge." Takeshi explained. "I've been posted to help fly the ship. Never flown anything bigger than an excelsior, though, so I imagine this will be a learning experience."

"I'm sure a flyboy like you will be able to figure it out." Reina replied with a smirk. "Now... How's little Nakazato coming along? It's been a long time since Miss Akikawa's had some of him..."

Mission - Remaining Steadfast
Location - Kuat Ship Yards
Summary - Captain Akikawa boards the ISS Steadfast.
Timeline - MD0 - 1200 Hours

The pulsing rhythm of an old Terran Military march played over the speakers of the old shuttlecraft. Reina Akikawa sat in one of the jump seats in the rear of the small craft, eyes closed, taking in the rhythm and the power that it projected. Only those who truly understood the importance of projecting power could understand the significance to the tune.

Reina's shuttle had only lifted off from the surface of the planet Kuat within the hour. Before that. Reina had collected her few permitted personal effects from the barracks where she had been staying while her command had been formalized. Now that it was official, Reina was on her way to see the ship that for so long only existed in works of propaganda, but now, was as real and tangible as the craft that Reina sat in.

Her thoughts and musings were interrupted by a message over the comms:

"Captain, we are approaching the Steadfast." An English accented voice called out.

Opening her eyes, Reina rose from her jumpseat, which folded back into the unused position. Adjusting her uniform to make herself look presentable, Reina shut her eyes briefly, and muttered "For the Order." to herself in her own English accent before stepping forward into the cockpit.

The cockpit of the old shuttlecraft was cramped, to say the least. Though the shuttlecraft had been well-maintained by the Order, or at least as good as they could with what they had, there was a reason why this century old workhorse had been retired from frontline service, though still perfectly capable of serving the Order in an auxiliary capacity.

Reina stood behind the young pilot at the controls and stared out of the cockpit windows. Looming into view, there she was: The Imperial Starship Steadfast. The newest Galaxy-Xyston class Star Destroyer. Proudly bearing the name of two of the Terran First Order's founding vessels. She looked as beautiful and deadly as she did in Reina's dreams; her subconscious filling the blanks of the propaganda.

"The Order must be placing a lot of faith in these Galaxy-Xyston ships." The pilot commented. "If they're willing to give one the name of Palpatine and Pryde's flagships."

"The true Heir to the Empire." Reina agreed. "Take us in to dock."

As the pilot maneuvered in to dock, the shuttle flew low over the Steadfast's saucer section, allowing Reina to take in the full scale of the technological marvel that the Order had built: The ship's name and registry easily outclassed any other that Reina had seen. The ship's yellow markings and its impressive arsenal showcased the true might of the Terran First Order, and projected it as something to be feared. At last, the shuttle arrived at the aft of the saucer section, smoothly gliding through the shuttlebay's forcefield and touching down.

Once they had touched down, Reina turned and left the cockpit, grabbing her bag from near her folded up seat as the ramp folded down. Slinging it over her shoulder, Reina stepped down the ramp as the new ship smell met her nostrils. Already, several officers had lined up as the shuttle's ramp had opened, and when Reina emerged, they stood to attention and saluted her.

For a moment, Reina stood on the ramp, observing the shuttlebay and the goings on around the shuttle. It appeared as if these officers had lined up of their own free will, and no person in charge was in sight to greet her and give her the tour.

"You there:" Reina pointed to the nearest officer to her left. "What is your name, rank, and position?"

"Lieutenant Myles Grint, Engineering Officer, Ma'am." The portly officer responded.

"Well, Lieutenant;" Reina said, perking a curious brow. "Are you the one in charge around here?"

"No, ma'am." Grint replied. "Foreman Aresko is a busy man. He doesn't have the time to be showing people around."

"For a ship as important as the Steadfast, I'm surprised that Aresko didn't make time..." Reina voiced her displeasure clearly. "But, no matter, I suppose I'll just have to show myself around, then."

Grint seemed as if he was ready to apologize when Reina spoke again.

"Well, don't just stand there: Get back to bloody work!" She ordered sharply.

"Y-yes, ma'am! Sorry, ma'am!" Grint quickly saluted before making himself scare, rejoining the team overseeing the delivery of supplies to the Steadfast.

Reina turned to the rest of the gathered officers, bag still slung over her left shoulder:

"As for the rest of you, if you do not know my name, you will learn it if you are assigned to this vessel: I am Captain Reina Akikawa, commander of this Star Destroyer. You will follow my orders without question or hesitation. If you do not follow orders or show loyalty to the Order, your time on this ship, and in the Order as a whole, will be short." She paused to let her words sink in. "However, if you do follow orders and show loyalty to myself and the Terran First Order, you will be handsomely rewarded. We are all soldiers of the First Order! We serve the Supreme Leader and are the heirs to the Terran Empire by birthright! FOR THE ORDER!

The whole room saluted, and the words 'For the Order!' echoed through the shuttlebay.

"Dismissed!" Reina called with a sharp nod.

As the gathered officers began to disperse, Reina began to walk confidently towards the exit of the bay, depositing her bag into the hands of an officer who volunteered to deliver them to her personal quarters. Getting his name and rank, of course, on the off chance her personal effects didn't show up. Reina's first stop was the bridge. Her bridge. After that, she would see about setting up her ready room before finally setting up her personal quarters.

Entering the turbolift, Reina called out "Deck One." Initiating the turbolift's ascent towards the indicated deck, which housed the main bridge. The Steadfast had a second, smaller bridge to be used as part of a new tactical mode called 'Saucer Separation.' Though the name didn't sound quite as impressive as 'Multi-Vector Assault Mode', Reina nonetheless wanted to try out the new mode. If anything, to prepare her new crew for the scenario when they would need to use it.

The turbolift's ascent slowed and eventually completed. The doors swooshed open. Her bridge was waiting for her: Reina Akikawa was about to take command of the First Order's technological terror, wondering how her name might be etched into the history books when the Terran Final Order would be brought about:
